LOS ANGELES - After losing three different one-goal games to Cal State Bakersfield during the regular season, the Santa Clara women's water polo team won the game that mattered, beating CSUB 7-3 in the quarterfinals of the Western Water Polo Association Championships. The Broncos move on to face the winner of UC Davis and CS Monterey Bay Saturday at 4 p.m.

Falling behind 1-0 in the first quarter, the Broncos wasted no time in tying the game up with a goal 20 seconds later. They would then go on a 5-1 run to end the first half, taking a 6-2 lead. Both teams traded goals in the third quarter and neither scored in the fourth to make the final score 7-3.

As in the first game, Santa Clara spread the scoring around. Seven different Broncos scored the seven goals. Allie Lamb, Emily Bonk, Jenny Knutson, Meg Zimmerman, Elizabeth Perry, Christie Miller, and Brianna Anderson all scored. In goal, Randahl Capurro had nine blocks, including four in the crucial second quarter when Santa Clara extended their lead.

The Broncos will most likely face off against the No. 2 seed UC Davis in the semifinals. Santa Clara is 0-2 on the season against the Aggies.
